DWP Monroe County Map Editors Note

The cobblestone structure locations marked with the icons on the 1940 Monroe County Map provided by Dorothy Wells Pease have been compared with the known locations of structures in the Cobblestone Info Base.

There are 21 known structures that DWP did not include on the map, and are now shown as green link icons on the map. The reasons likely vary from no longer existing prior to DWP adding the structure locations to the map, existing but unknown to DWP at the time, or omitted through oversight or error.

Only one structure is present in the Town line of Rush and Mendon that is not in the Cobblestone Info Base. The half circle icon shown is that of a "Barn or Ell of House" per the map key, located on or near the Town line between the Towns of Rush and Mendon on east side of Route 15A at or just north of the intersection with Plains Road. The location Icon appears to straddle the Town Line between Town of Rush on the west and Town of Mendon on the east. The structure, thought to be at 15 Plains Road, appears to be at the end of a long drive located between two houses on Plains Rd. Realtor exterior photographs of the 15 Plains Road structure do not show any evidence of cobblestone construction. The residence does face Route 15A and has driveway access to that road; however, the address is listed as 15 Plains Road. The icon is marked with a "?" mark and arrow for visual identification until the issue is resolved.
